This type of crisis intervention is both exciting and challenging. The time commitment is from 3-5 hours in the Center each week. A high level of training is required and provided. Child abuse clearances and criminal background check are required. Nurse and Medical Professionals - These volunteers also work directly with women and family members who are considering abortion. Using their specific medical skills, these professionals can provide services in the center beyond peer counseling. The time commitment is from 3-5 hours in the Center each week. A high level of training is required and provided. Child abuse clearances and criminal background check are also required. Advocate - The advocates work with ongoing clients after the initial decision making crisis has passed. They are highly trained to assess needs, create a plan of care, present abstinence to single clients and present parenting education. Training is required and provided. Minimum time commitment is one 3-5 hour shift twice a month. Child abuse clearances and criminal background check are required. Material Support Volunteers - These volunteers help to stock, sort, transport and organize our baby clothing and furnishings. No training is necessary and time commitment varies. Child abuse clearances and criminal background check are also required. Campaign and Administrative Volunteers - The Centers are funded and supported by over 200 local churches and organizations. Volunteers help us to communicate with our donors and supporters, file and sort documents, and assist with Baby Bottle Campaigns, Walk For Life, Banquets, and Golf Outings. Time commitment varies, a confidentiality statement is required and some training is required. Church Liasion - Connect your church with the WCN events and opportunities to serve. Outreach - Go around the city posting tear-off flyers and leaving cards so that men and women find our clinics. Speaker - Speakers are needed for abstinence presentations in schools and youth groups, as well as for baby showers at churches and organizations or to be representatives at a table. A high level of training is required and provided. Child abuse clearances and a criminal background check is required. Little training for the churches and community organizations is required and can be done at the Center. Cleaning person - Each office is a medical clinic and is treated as such. This volunteer comes to do a thorough cleaning once a month. Administrative Offices Volunteer - This volunteer helps with answering phones, filing, data entry, copies, envelope stuffing, etc. |
